The third round of pre-order bonuses for Drakengard 3, Access Games' upcoming prequel to the original Drakengard, will gift buyers six themes featuring the game's characters, Square Enix senior product manager Sakura Minamida announced via the PlayStation Blog.

Themes will feature protagonist Zero, her dragon Mikhail, and the disciples Cent, Octa, Decadus and Dito. Those who pre-order the game from certain retailers, such as Amazon, will be able to download costume color variations for Zero.

Chapters two through five of the Drakengard 3 prequel novella, which provides background on the game's characters, have also been updated on the game's official site. More chapters will be added later, while those who purchase the Collector's Edition of the game will get a paperback edition.

Square Enix also released a short behind-the-scenes video with Kimihiko Fujisaka, in which the art designer talks about how he designed each character for a more modern, rather than medieval, appearance. The game's monsters and non-player characters, meanwhile, remain very much inspired by older traditions.

Drakengard 3 is set to launch May 20 in North America for PlayStation 3. The game will be available in a regular edition for $49.99, or a Collector's Edition for $79.99. Previous pre-order tiers have included extra costumes, a poster and the aforementioned novella.
