Xbox Entertainment's live-action Halo feature under executive producer Ridley Scott has cast its first star — The Good Wife and The Following actor Mike Coulter, reports The Wrap.
The digital Halo feature, which will be similar in format to the Machinima miniseries Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, will follow the story of a surgically-enhanced super soldier — not the famous Master Chief — in the 26th century. The Wrap reports that Coulter will play Marlowe, a "rising star in a futuristic army" whose has "troubled" feelings about the military institution he is a part of. He is cautious and logical when it comes to combat and is a source of loyalty among his Spartan comrades.
Coulter's recent credits also include American Horror Story: Coven and is signed on to star in Patrick Gilles' biopic indie movie America Is Still the Place.
Los Angeles-based Xbox Entertainment — established to create original content for Xbox One — announced the Halo digital feature last month. Directing is Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, who has directed numerous episodes of Battlestar Galactica, Falling Skies and Heroes, as well as served as Spielberg's assistant director on A.I., Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List.
