Bohemia Interactive marks 15th anniversary with Steam sale, Arma 3 free weekend

Bohemia Interactive, the Czech studio behind DayZ and the Arma franchise, is honoring its 15th anniversary with a Steam sale offering discounts of up to 80 percent on its games and a free weekend for Arma 3.

All Steam users can play Arma 3 for free from May 15 through May 18; everything but the second and third campaign episodes are available, and those who want to buy it can do so at 40 percent off. Bohemia also put all of its games on sale, including its two Early Access titles, DayZ and Take On Mars. And the studio's debut game, Arma: Cold War Assault — a re-release of the original title, 2001's Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis — can be downloaded for free until the end of the weekend, as a special gift to Bohemia's longtime fans.

Bohemia also announced that Arma 2 players who didn't buy the game or its expansions through Steam can now activate the title on Steam using an original CD key.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to the amazing 15 years at Bohemia Interactive. The journey so far has been exciting, often challenging, sometimes hard — but, ultimately, always rewarding," said Marek Spanel, co-founder and CEO of Bohemia Interactive, in a press release. "While the games industry has fundamentally changed since the early years, our community continues to stand at the heart of everything we do, and together we will continue to create incredible games."
