DayZ hack being 'extensively' investigated, no user data affected

Bohemia Interactive's open-world, multiplayer survival game, DayZ, was recently hacked but will have no effect on the players or development of the game, Rock, Paper, Shotgun reports.

Early reports suggested that the game's source code had been compromised. The statement given to RPS, however, does not reveal the nature of the attack.

"We have recently detected an attack on some of our servers, the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated," the spokesperson said. "There were no user data on any of the servers. Current development goals and schedules for our games will not be affected by this attack. More information will follow as our investigation continues."

DayZ is currently available via Steam Early Access. Upon the game's launch, the developer warned that the game is still early and that players should not pick up the game unless they were interested in participating in the game's ongoing development cycle.
