Neverwinter: Tyranny of Dragons, the fourth expansion to Cryptic Studios' massively multiplayer online role-playing game, will be released Aug. 14, the developer and publisher Perfect World Entertainment announced today.
Set in Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms universe, the Tyranny of Dragons module will bridge the narrative gap between the game and its tabletop counterpart. Dungeons & Dragons creator Wizards of the Cost announced separately today that it will release "serialized entertainment offerings" for the Tyranny of Dragons expansion this year, including the Neverwinter content and two new tabletop games.
“This is a pivotal year for Dungeons & Dragons, and we are thrilled to have Perfect World and Cryptic on board to make Neverwinter a key part of the D&D experience as we transition to the future,” said Nathan Stewart, Dungeons & Dragons brand director. “The new Tyranny of Dragons module is just the beginning of us bringing our new serialized entertainment to the fans of both tabletop and digital games.”
