Wasteland 2 will arrive by the end of August, developer InXile Entertainment announced earlier this week. To tide fans over until then, the studio published the opening, live-action cinematic for the game on YouTube yesterday.
The video tells the backstory of the Wasteland canon — the apocalypse responsible for the post-apocalypse, and the familiar Desert Rangers who roam the land in the name of justice.
Wasteland 2 — a sequel whose predecessor launched in 1988 — will release on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. inXile recently said the game is essentially feature complete though it continues to test and optimize components for balance and quality. The game will launch in seven languages, but inXile is organizing a community driven localization effort to support other languages as well.
