Epic Games has released a patch for Unreal Tournament 3 that sends players to new servers, completing the series transition from GameSpy, which shut down completely yesterday.

The patch, available here, also works with the Steam version of Unreal Tournament 3, Epic said. Instructions for implementing it are at the link. Users will have to recreate their old usernames on the new master server.
GameSpy, which began in 1997, was purchased by Glu Mobile, a publisher of free-to-play mobile games, in August 2012. Glu announced last month that it would close down the service. Its technology had been used by more than 1,000 games, with the Unreal series among some of the longest-tenured games using it.
