Spintires is, oddly enough, one of the most calming games I've played this year. Which is surprising, considering how infuriating it is.
Sure, in those moments where your truck and its cargo folds in on itself like a dying star, sending you careening irretrievably onto your side, it's a genuine, grade-A jerk. The rest of the time, though, it's just slow, methodical movement through beautiful, albeit muddy environments. It's like fifteen minutes of meditative off-roading, and then two seconds of "Oh, come on, that bush was totally small enough for me to drive over!"
In today's Overview, Chris Plante and I tackle the unpaved paths of the great outdoors, and learn a little bit about ourselves in the process. The thing I learned? I am not very good at Spintires.
