Amiibo, introduced during E3 2014, are Nintendo's answer to franchises like Skylanders and Disney Infinity. Players place figurines of Nintendo characters with built-in near field communication chips on the Wii U's GamePad controller to access the characters in-game. This feature will be included in games like Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Mario Party 10 and Mario Kart 8.
