A New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition hardware bundle featuring the Nintendo 2DS will launch July 4, Nintendo announced today.
The package consists of the Nintendo 2DS White + Red system, a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed on a 4GB memory card and all Coin Rush mode add-on content released for the game since its August 2012 release. The bundle offers more than 80 courses in total along with 30 extra challenges.
Coin Rush is a mode where players collect as many coins as possible within a set time and offers courses of varying difficulty levels. The mode also features co-op functionality, allowing players who have a 3DS or 2DS and a copy of the game to play together. Nintendo did not share a recommended retail price for the bundle at the time of writing. You can learn more about the 2DS handheld, which launched October last year, from our hands-on at PAX Prime 2013.
