Hohokum launches for PlayStation 3, PS4 and PS Vita Aug. 12

Hohokum, the colorful, snaking, exploration game from Honeyslug, will launch for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Playstation Vita Aug. 12, designer and co-founder Ricky Haggett announced via the PlayStation Blog.

The game has been in development since 2008 and has undergone many changes, Haggett wrote. In an effort to touch on the game's design, Honeyslug released a video detailing the game's world, which doesn't take the time to explain itself.

Hohokum's origins didn't begin with its signature snake, but rather a simple question: Could the team make a game? The developer first began with the idea of racing, but found that exploring levels as a "stunt kite" was a more much appealing idea. Watch the video above to learn about Honeyslug's meandering journey to make Hohokum the game it is today.

For more on Hohokum, check out our interview with the game's developer on why it wanted to avoid using the DualShock 4's technology. The game was originally slated to launch in February in Japan but was delayed from that date.
