Abzû, Giant Squid's debut title, coming to PlayStation 4

Abzû , the first title from Giant Squid, will launch for PlayStation 4, Playstation's VP of publisher and developer relations Adam Boyes announced today during the Sony E3 2014 press conference.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, an underwater explorer journeys through the sea.

"Abzû will take players on an epic adventure into the depths of the ocean, where they will encounter majestic creatures and discover long lost secrets," the trailer's description reads. "The game draws inspiration from a deep, innate story that we all carry in our collective subconscious, a universal origin myth that resonates across cultures. As such, the name Abzû references a concept from the oldest Mesopotamian mythology: it is the combination of two ancient words Ab, meaning ocean, and Zû, meaning to know. Essentially, Abzû is the ocean of wisdom."

Abzû will launch in 2016.

Giant Squid was founded last year by former Journey art director Matt Nava. Giant Squid was co-founded by Nava and TV production company The Ink Factory. Journey composer Austin Wintory and thatgamecompany's lead designer Nicholas Clark are also working on the project.

The developer is partnering with publisher 505 Games.
