The Evil Within will be released one week early, now due Oct. 14

The Evil Within will give survival horror fans their fix of gory scares a week earlier than expected, publisher Bethesda Softworks announced at QuakeCon today. The multiplatform horror game from developer Tango Gameworks is being released a week earlier than previously planned, and will now arrive Oct. 14 in North America.

The game will come to Australia on Oct. 16 and throughout Europe on Oct. 18, according to an update from Bethesda.

Earlier this year, Bethesda pushed The Evil Within back from its original August launch date and announced a release date of Oct. 21. Today, Bethesda's Pete Hines said the game will be ready ahead of previous expectations.

"Shinji [Mikami] asked us for a little extra time with the game, but we're really happy with it," Hines said. "It's ready a week early, so we're releasing it a week early."

The Evil Within will be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC. Check out our most recent hands-on impressions of the game for more details.
