This week's Nintendo Direct will focus on ghost taming RPG Youkai Watch 2

A new Nintendo Direct is scheduled for July 4 at 6 p.m. JST, according to the latest video to appear on the company's official Japanese YouTube page.

The presentation will focus on Youkai Watch 2, a Nintendo 3DS release previously announced in April. Youkai Watch, a ghost taming role-playing game in Japan, is being launched by publisher Level 5.

As previously reported, Level 5 will release two editions of the game, a Ganso (Founder) edition and the Honke (Head) edition. Both of these allow players to earn a different rare medal in the game.

Additionally, the sequel promises to reveal the origins behind the Youkai watch, a mysterious accessory that protagonist Keita uses to interact with ghosts. In Youkai Watch 2, he and his friends will travel back in time to Japan's early 20th century Showa era and meet another ghost-taming boy called Keizo.

The original release launched in Japan in 2013 on Nintendo 3DS systems.
