Batman: Arkham Knight may feature an add-on story mission starring the violent vigilante Red Hood, according to allegedly leaked GameStop promotional materials posted by Batman News.
The above picture — in addition to the previously-announced playable Harley Quinn DLC — mentions the Red Hood Story Pack, in which players can "play as the ruthless vigilante." The picture also notes the pack is pre-order bonus and exclusive to GameStop.
Yesterday afternoon, GameStop tweeted a blurry image of what looks like the Red Hood character shown in the above materials. The tweet mentions an announcement connected to the image and a "big game" coming today, July 23.
In Batman lore, the Red Hood's identity has frequently changed, but one of his first incarnations was as the Joker's original form in the Detective Comics series. He abandoned the disguise after becoming the familiar green-haired madman due to accidental contact with toxic chemicals. When one of the former Robins, Jason Todd, was brought back from the dead many years later, he beat up Joker, stole the Red Hood disguise and took up the title. As Red Hood, Todd terrorized the crime gangs of Arkham City with his vigilante activities, and was known for being aggressive and favoring guns.
Batman: Arkham Knight will launch in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Update: GameStop confirmed today that pre-orders for Batman: Arkham Knight through the retailer will receive the exclusive Red Hood story mission in which they can play as the red-capped vigilante.
