The Long Dark is a quiet, sometimes beautiful take on the survival genre; but that doesn't mean it's less lethal than its contemporaries. On the contrary — it may lack zombies, mutant bears and griefing players, but the wilderness you've crash-landed in has plenty of ways to dispatch you.
Take the gameplay video above, captured from the game's early alpha version, as an example of that fact. It doesn't matter if you've got all the firewood and beef jerky in the world when you're thirsty, exhausted and nursing a sprained ankle.
