Watch the GT Academy 2014 Nationals live on Twitch

The full National Finals for GT Academy — Polyphony Digital's gamer-to-racer initiative that gives Gran Turismo players a shot at being a real-world racer — will be livestreamed on Twitch, organizers announced today in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

The National Finals, which will be held on July 11 at the MTV Studios in New York City's Times Square, will be available for viewing on Twitch beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Viewers will get the chance to win prizes for watching the livestream, including Gran Turismo 6 DLC car packs and in-game credits ranging from $100,000 to $1 million.

During the event, the top 32 GT Academy contestants will be put through a series of virtual challenges, with the 12 winners heading to the Silverstone Race Circuit in the U.K. for the final round of both in-game and real-world motorsport events in August. The winner will become the next professional racecar driver for Nissan, beginning with the 24HR Dubai race in Jan. 2015.

The NYC finals will be hosted by owner of GT Planet Jordan Greer, GT Academy's 2013 champion Nick McMillen, GT Academy judge and legendary racer Danny Sullivan and host Dhani Jones.
