QuakeCon 2014 will host a The Evil Within-inspired blood drive for the American Red Cross, and will thank donors for their contributions with free The Evil Within goodies, Bethesda announced today in a post on its official blog.
The blood drive will take place July 18-19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. Attendees 17 years of age and older can sign up to donate in the hotel's Topaz room 1. Donors will receive an official The Evil Within-branded chill pack, a cold pack that be put in the freezer and used to chill lunch boxes and coolers. According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, the special QuakeCon pack will look like a blood pack and feature red freezable liquid inside.
"QuakeCon has a great group of attendees who we think will want to help the community by donating blood," said Bethesda vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines. "The American Red Cross is a terrific organization, and we're thrilled to welcome them to QuakeCon."
"The Red Cross is grateful for Bethesda Softworks' invitation to host a blood drive during such a critical time," added Jan Hale, American Red Cross' external communications manager. "The summer months are a particularly difficult period for blood collections and being a part of this event gives us more opportunities to help save lives."
QuakeCon 2014 will be held July 17-20, while The Evil Within launches on Oct. 21 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Check out our recent hands-on preview of Tango Gameworks title here.
