Project Spark launches in October for Xbox One and Windows 8.1

The final version of Project Spark, Team Dakota and Microsoft Studios' game creation platform, will be available worldwide this October, Microsoft announced today.

The software, which lets players build their own game worlds with their own set of rules, will launch in the Americas on Oct. 7, in Asia-Pacific territories on Oct. 9 and in Europe on Oct. 10.

The Xbox One retail version, the $39.99 Project Spark Starter Pack, will feature a collection of premium in-game content. This includes the first sci-fi pack "Galaxies: First Contact," "Champions Quest: Void Storm," the character Sir Haakon "Hawk" the Knight and the first episode of an "epic campaign adventure" developers have planned for the title. All content from the Starter Pack will also be available to download in both the Xbox One and Windows 8.1 versions.

The Project Spark beta is still available to download through the Xbox One marketplace and Windows 8 Store. During E3, Microsoft revealed that Conker, the squirrely star of Conker's Bad Fur Day, will be available for users to play with in the game.
