Mortal Kombat X will see the return of veteran fighter Kano, a combatant who's been with the series since the beginning, snatching still-beating hearts right out of the chest cavities of his enemies.
In a new video released by NetherRealm Studios, series co-creator Ed Boon details the older, more cybernetic-than-ever Kano's three fighting styles. In his Cutthroat variation, Kano can pound on his glowing cybernetic heart to power up his attacks, Boon says, and primarily fights with knife-based combo attacks. Cybernetic Kano gives the fighter more laser eye attacks and arms him with grenades to give him more range. The Commando variation enhances Kano's grappling skills for more close-range attacks.
The new Mortal Kombat X gameplay video also shows off a new stage, Jungle, and teases Kano's skull-emptying, eye laser-based fatality.
Mortal Kombat X is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2015. For more on the tenth installment in the Mortal Kombat series, read our feature preview of the upcoming fighting game.
