Mojang has made it official that its annual convention for Minecraft, Minecon, will not be held this year, and when it returns in 2015 it will be held in the U.K.
"I'm shooting to have it in the spring in London," wrote Vu Bui, Mojang's chief operating officer, on the company's official blog this week. Bui was writing to acknowledge that by this time last year, fans had been given dates, location and ticket information for Minecon.
"As soon as I have confirmed information it'll be out there, Bui wrote. "We always announce as soon as we confirm with the venue and have a signed contract, but never before, because we want to make sure we can follow through with the event and we never want people to start planning to attend something that might not happen."
Minecon began in 2010; after being held in Las Vegas for its first two years, it moved to Paris in 2012 and Orlando, Fla. last year. It has grown from a community-organized event attended by 50 to one with more than 7,500 attendees.
