Pokkén Tournament, a fighting game adaptation of the Pokémon universe, was just announced in Japan this morning. It will be a two-player arcade game and it is being developed in collaboration with Bandai Namco, publisher of the Tekken series.
This morning's announcement showed the CEO of The Pokémon Company meeting with Tekken chief producer Katsuhiro Harada and Soulcalibur producer Masaaki Hoshino, meaning both of those teams are working on the game. Pokkén Tournament is expected to launch in 2015.
Last year, The Pokémon Company trademarked "Pokkén Fighters," and this leaked trailer stoked anticipation of a Pokémon fighting game.
