'The Expendables 3' meets Broforce in free game The Expendabros

Two action movie nostalgia-tapping titans — video game Broforce and action hero all-star flick The Expendables 3 — are coming together for a limited-time release called The Expendabros. It's free to download from Steam right now, courtesy of publisher Devolver Digital.

The cross-promotional game will let players assume the bro-ified versions of characters from The Expendables movies, including Bro Caesar (Terry Crews), Bro Christmas (Jason Statham), Broney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Trent Broser (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Bronar Jenson (Dolph Lundgren), Broc (Wesley Snipes) and Toll Broad (Randy Couture). Players will hunt down arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks — Mel Gibson's character in The Expendables 3 — through the forests of Eastern Europe in ten missions.

The Expendabros supports up to four players at once in local multiplayer co-op mode and is available for Windows PC. The original game, Broforce, is available for Mac and Windows PC through Steam for $14.99 or as a four-pack for $44.99.

The Expendables 3 hits theaters Aug. 15. The Expendabros will be available for download until Dec. 31.
