The first gameplay footage of NBA 2K15 arrived today, but it didn't come initially from publisher 2K Sports — Kevin Durant, the game's cover athlete and 2013-14 NBA Most Valuable Player, debuted the clip on Instagram.

It's a smart bit of marketing from 2K Sports: Durant boasts nearly 3.4 million Instagram followers, and more than 7.8 million Twitter followers. The video contains maybe 10 seconds of footage from the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K15. Durant drives to the basket and dunks on Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors.

According to 2K Sports representatives, the footage offers a sneak peek at a variety of improvements in visuals and animation for NBA 2K15. Better-looking sweat, muscle tone and armpit hair can be seen on the player models, along with athlete-specific details like Durant's KD 7 sneakers from Nike. If you look in the background, you may notice furry mascots on the court and fans in the seats holding up Big Heads.

NBA 2K15 is set for release Oct. 7 on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC, as well as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
