What happens when The Witcher 3's audio doesn't work? Geralt freestyle

CD Projekt RED put on a panel at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month to show off its upcoming game, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, to the public for the first time. It didn't go quite as planned.

The developer's computers were apparently damaged on the flight to San Diego; when the team loaded up gameplay, they found that none of the game's voiceovers worked. In the video above, Doug Cockle — the voice of Witcher protagonist Geralt of Rivia — comes to the rescue at the behest of the developer: "Doug! Doug! Can you just freestyle it?"

Check out the video above to see Cockle improvise a few of his own lines and deliver a live, impromptu performance. According to the video's description, the clip only features outtakes from the presentation. Gameplay videos will go online next week.

You can watch the full SDCC panel below. For more on The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, read our in-depth preview from E3 2014.
