Nintendo is releasing three new 3DS XL handhelds themed around Super Smash Bros., the Nintendo Entertainment System and Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, the company announced today at the GameStop Expo.
The first system to go on sale will be the Super Smash Bros. Edition Nintendo 3DS XL, available in red and blue on Sept. 19 for $199.99. The system celebrates the impending release of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, due out on Oct. 3. The handheld, already announced in other regions, was leaked for a Western release earlier this month.
The NES Edition Nintendo 3DS XL, modeled after the original NES controller, will be available for $199.99 on Oct. 10 as a GameStop exclusive.
On Nov. 25, the Persona Q Edition Nintendo 3DS XL will launch alongside Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The system will be available exclusively at GameStop for $199.99 and does not include the game.
Nintendo recently announced the New Nintendo 3DS system, set to launch in Japan Oct. 11, that includes new features and controls. A North American release date has not yet been announced.
