Paul McCartney wrote music for Destiny for 'the creativity,' not cash

There was "no check involved, big or otherwise" when it came to recruiting iconic singer and songwriter Paul McCartney for the soundtrack of Bungie's open-world shooter, Destiny, community manager Eric Osbourne told Vulture.

"He's in it for the creativity," Osbourne said. "He got a wonderful opportunity to reach an audience that wouldn't typically be immersed in Paul McCartney. They might hear the name — of course he's everywhere, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, obviously he's touring and recording nonstop — but he sees it as a way to reach a new audience that might not otherwise hear his music."

McCartney contributed orchestral elements to the game, as well as a new single, "Hope for the Future," that plays over Destiny's credits. YouTube user Kilo Juliett posted the track online yesterday, and the response so far has been mixed.

The original video has since been pulled off YouTube due to copyright claims, but user BigCTV has a cut of the credits that includes the single. You can listen to it below beginning at the 2:18 mark.
