Super Smash Bros on Wii U will allow players to use a 3DS as a controller

A menu item in the 3DS edition of Super Smash Bros. suggests that the handheld may be used as a controller when connected to a Wii U playing its version of the game.

GameSpot noticed the detailin an image from the English language version of the game. It was already known that the two editions would feature some connectivity, allowing users to transfer custom-created fighters between the two.

The 3DS-as-controller feature appears to be wireless.

Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS will release a demo in the North American eShop on Friday, Sept. 19. This general-release demo will only allow players to open it 30 times.

Club Nintendo members who achieved Platinum status between July 1, 2013 and June 30 have also been emailed codes for the demo.
