Frontier Developments has yet to announce a release date for the space combat sim Elite: Dangerous, but the game has been priced at $60, and it will receive a special edition that can be pre-ordered at a discount.
The benefits in Elite: Dangerous' "Mercenary Edition" are entirely digital, including a players' guide, concept art book, ship decal, paint schemes, and an additional fighter. "Plus additional in-game benefits and other digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks," said an announcement from Frontier.
The Mercenary Edition may be preordered for $50. Anyone who preordered the game before this announcement receives all of the digital content it has to offer, too.
Crowd-funded at more than $2.6 million, Elite: Dangerous will launch on Mac and Windows PC. Fontier Developments boss David Braben has said the studio is open to the idea of releasing the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
