Attendance dropped at this year's Tokyo Game Show, organizers announced today, with the total number of visitors exceeding 251,000 across four days.
Last year's TGS saw record attendance of 270,197 visitors to the show which was a substantial increase over 2012, when 223,753 attended.
2014's drop in attendance was largely a result of fewer visitors coming during the show's public days — Saturday and Sunday. 195,399 people visited the show during public days in 2014, compared to 217,843 in 2013. Tickets for the public days cost between 1,000 yen and 1,200 yen.
Attendance during business days, when exhibitors, media and other professionals visit the show, was up in 2014 compared to last year by about 4,000.
Organizers also confirmed the dates for next year's show. Tokyo Game Show will return to the Makuhari Messe from Thursday, Sept. 17 to Sunday, Sept. 20 in 2015.
