Homebrew remake Pier Solar HD will launch on Sept. 30

The Kickstarter-funded remake of homebrew role-playing game Pier Solar and the Great Architects will launch on Sept. 30, developer Watermelon announced.

Pier Solar HD will be available next week for Ouya, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and through Steam for Windows PC. Watermelon is currently awaiting certification for Xbox One and Wii U, and will launch them at a later date along with the Sega Dreamcast version.

Pier Solar HD is a visual and mechanical overhaul of the original, which was published in December 2010 for the Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive. The project's Kickstarter campaign in December 2012 made nearly double its funding goal, pulling in $231,370. The game was initially slated to launch this past spring, but was delayed into summer as Watermelon chose to add new features and refinements. Pier Solar HD was delayed a second time due to certification problems on some platforms.
