The team behind bitsy graphic stunt skateboarding game OlliOlli is working on a sequel, developer Roll7 announced today at EGX in London.
OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood is set for a 2015 release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
"OlliOlli2 will be the embodiment of skateboarding flow and flair, with a whole new world of opportunities for the skater to bust out a crazy set of tricks and moves," said producer Tom Hegarty in a prepared statement.
In the original game, players have to string together combos using a thumbstick and triggers as their tiny skater hurdles across the string. Landing tricks and them piling them up requires a sort of rhythm that can become "a thing of trancelike, involuntary reflex," according to our review.
In this new game, the focus on combos and tricks remain, but this time the skater is pulling them off at "Olliwood Studios," performing tricks in the middle of the "Big Screen's most bodacious cinematic locations."
Gameplay has been enhanced with the addition of ramps, jumps and epic hills that will allow for bigger air and split-level routes, according to the press release. The game will also have an updated "tricktionary" with new specials including 540 Shuvits, Anti-Casper Flips, Darkslides and other words that sound made-up to me.
The game will ship with five new worlds, 50 new amateur and pro levels and 250 new challenges along with the return of Spots mode and RAD mode and an overhauled look that adds 9,000 frames of hand-drawn art, according to the release.
OlliOlli2 is also bringing a new split-screen local multiplayer mode called Combo Rush which supports up to four players in a timed score attack.
If you happen to be at EGX make sure you swing by the Roll7 stand for some time with the game on the PlayStation 4.
