Watch the first half hour of Fatal Frame V

We're not sure if the latest Fatal Frame game will release outside of Japan. But YouTube user ka kit has made it possible to live vicariously, as they've posted a video of the first 30 minutes of the recently released Japanese horror game.

In the Fatal Frame series, players take the role of a photographer exploring haunted dwellings, and their only weapon against horrifying apparitions is their trusty camera. It's one of the most effectively terrifying franchises in gaming history.

The new game appears to make good on the series' legacy, opening on a young woman waking up in a water-logged basement, among a host of horrifying apparitions. Naturally, things only get freakier from there.

Fatal Frame V just launched on the Wii U in Japan, with no confirmed US release.
