Watch Don Hertzfeldt's bizarre, futuristic take on 'The Simpsons'

New, comments

The couch gag from award-winning, seemingly never-ending animated show The Simpsons has become almost as iconic as the characters themselves. Over the years, members of the Simpsons have rushed home to their family couch in new, goofy ways.

For the premiere of Season 26, the show's creators gave the reins over to filmmaker and animator Don Hertzfeldt, whose work includes animated short Rejected. The result is one of the show's strangest, most unsettling and perhaps best gags of all. Watch the video above to see Homer and company jump into a disjointed, surreal future.
