Minecraft comes to PlayStation 4 on Sept. 4

The PlayStation 4 version of Mojang's creative sandbox game Minecraft will be released this Thursday, Sept. 4 on the PlayStation Store, Sony Computer Entertainment America confirmed today.

Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition will cost $19.99, but players who have already purchased the PS3 version of the game — either on disc or digitally — can upgrade for $4.99 through the PlayStation Store. (Microsoft is offering a similar deal for those who upgrade from Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition to the Xbox One version, which arrives Friday.)

The PS4 version of Minecraft boasts worlds 36 times larger than its previous generation counterpart. Saves from the PS3 version can be transferred to PS4.

Minecraft is also available on Android, iOS, Linux, Mac PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
