Animated GIFs are the currency of today's internet, and EA Sports is capitalizing on that with the "Madden GIFerator," an image engine that allows football fans to create and share images to trash-talk their friends and rivals.
Users of the GIFerator can choose from an assortment of premade GIFs from Madden NFL 15, with different sets for each of the 32 NFL teams. According to EA, the website will be updated with new GIFs in real time with each big play in NFL games over the course of the season.
Once they pick a particular player GIF — options include looping running animations for running backs and sack celebrations from defenders — users can set the image on a variety of backgrounds. The final piece is to add a few lines of trash-talking text to the GIF (profanity and other naughty words are forbidden, of course). Then, voilà! The GIFerator will generate an image that can serve as the perfect ammunition for fantasy football showdowns, real-life matchups and more.
Madden NFL 15 launched last week on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One; you can read our full review for more. The 2014 NFL season kicks off tonight with the Green Bay Packers visiting the Seattle Seahawks.
