The Halo 5: Guardians beta is entering its final leg in this coming week, and with that, 343 Industries will introduce a new mode of play, as well as a new map created with an early toolkit provided to fans.
Strongholds is the name of the new mode, a team Slayer variant. It features three control zones on the map for either side to control. Scoring occurs when one side controls two of the three, and the first side to 100 points wins the match. The description of the mode warns that trying to control all three zones will spread a side too thin to effectively score.
Strongholds will be playable on the Regret and Empire maps.
The new map is Pegasus, winner by fan vote over another called Orion. Pegasus features long sightlines for snipers, balanced out by flanking routes to knock the opposition from its perches.
Pegasus is also well suited for the rocket launcher, which makes its Halo 5: Guardians beta debut, 343 announced. Previously introduced modes Slayer returns on the Truth map, and Breakout is back on Crossfire and Trench.
