Code Name: STEAM hits 3DS March 13, will support amiibo toys

Code Name: STEAM will be released March 13 and support Fire Emblem amiibo toys, Nintendo revealed during a Nintendo Direct event today.

Just like in the Fire Emblem series, when your amiibo characters die in-game, they'll be gone permanently. The Ike amiibo will launch first, while Robin, Lucina and others will follow.

Nintendo revealed the turn-based strategy game/third-person shooter hybrid for Nintendo 3DS at E3 2014. Code Name: STEAM is being developed by Intelligent Systems, the company behind the Fire Emblem series. It tells story of the Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace (STEAM), which President Abraham Lincoln assembles to defend the earth from alien invaders.

At another Nintendo Direct late last year, the company said that Code Name: STEAM was headed for a spring 2015 release.
