Depending on your feelings about John Carpenter's cult-classic Escape from New York, this may be good news or bad news.
Deadline reports that Fox has closed a deal to remake the 1981 flick with The Picture Company producing and, here's the good news, Carpenter on as an executive producer with some creative pull on the project.
Better still, the film is not meant to be a retelling, but rather a reinvention of the property in the hopes of turning Escape into a new franchise.
There's no screenplay written yet, and it sounds like casting hasn't started. So, good news?
