The Witcher Battle Arena launches this week on Android, iOS

The Witcher Battle Arena, the multiplayer online battle arena title from Fuero Games and CD Projekt Red, will be released Jan. 22 on Android and iOS, CD Projekt Red announced today.

Set in the universe of Andrzej Sapkowski's famed fantasy stories, The Witcher Battle Arena is a free-to-play MOBA co-developed by Fuero Games and CD Projekt Red. Players can control Witcher characters such as Philippa, Saskia and Zoltan. The average match lasts 10 minutes, a time frame that's suited to the mobile space.

In an interview with Polygon last summer, the developers made it clear they designed The Witcher Battle Arena without any "pay-to-win" elements; everything in the game can be unlocked without having to pay. They also indicated that there's a possibility the title could come to computers in the future.

The next full game in the Witcher franchise, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is set for release May 19 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
