Actor Simon Pegg is reportedly signed on to co-write the script for the next Star Trek film, Deadline reports.
Pegg, who will return to play engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, is said to be working on a script for the so-far-unnamed Star Trek 3 with Doug Jung, best known as the creator of cop drama Dark Blue. It's believed that production company Paramount is aiming to release the film in time for Star Trek's 50th anniversary in 2016.
As was previously reported, Paramount replaced the film project's original director Roberto Orci with Fast & Furious director Justin Lin last year. As for Pegg, he has solid writing credentials, having helped develop the scripts for Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and classic British comedy series Spaced.
