Sony has begun accepting claims as part of a class action settlement announced last year following the PlayStation Network outage that took PlayStation 3 and PSP owners offline in 2011, the company announced.
Users with a U.S.-based PlayStation Network, Qriocity or Sony Online Entertainment account prior to May 15, 2011 could be on the receiving end of the settlement. What you actually get will depend on criteria imposed by Sony, including whether your accounts have been inactive since the hack and if you took advantage of Sony's "Welcome Back" promotions when the service was restored in 2011.
Game options include Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, God of War HD and a number of other titles on PlayStation 3 and PSP. Themes are also avaialble, as is the option for three months of PlayStation Plus for free. For the latter option, current members are not eligible.
For now, the deadline to submit a claim is Aug. 21, 2015. Users will receive their free game of choice sometime after that date.
