How Dreadnought takes the class-based shooter, and slows it way, way down

Dreadnought, an upcoming competitive PC shooter from developer Yager, has a few interesting twists on the class-based shooter genre. The game's five-on-five matches take place in a fully 3D battlefield, where classes are represented by ships of varying size and function. Its neatest idea, however, is how slow and methodical the game is, thanks to the gargantuan scope of the ships players can pilot — none of which can turn on a dime. Some can turn on a half-dollar, at best, while the titular Dreadnought can turn on, like, three football fields.

Check out the preview video above to see Dreadnought, which is currently in pre-alpha, in motion.
