Mario Maker may be coming to Wii U a little later than expected

Design-it-yourself Mario game for Wii U, Mario Maker, may not make its scheduled "first half of 2015" release window, based on an update from Nintendo today. According to the latest forecast information posted to Nintendo's investor relations site (PDF), Mario Maker is now listed for a more broad 2015 release.

Previously, Nintendo had scheduled Mario Maker for release on Wii U during the first six months of 2015.

Nintendo offered a similar update on Wii U game Project Guard; the game was previously slated for launch in the first half of 2015, and is now just listed as 2015.

Mario Maker and Project Guard were announced at E3 2014. Mario Maker will let Wii U owners make custom Super Mario Bros. levels in the style of the NES original, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. Project Guard, one of three Wii U GamePad explorations that Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto unveiled last year, puts players in control of a security system that requires careful monitoring of the GamePad and television screens.
