Minecraft creators vetoed a full Conan parody, but we still have this two-minute clip

Once upon a time, late night host Conan O'Brien and friends wanted to created an entire episode, beginning to end, of Conan recreated entirely in the style of Minecraft. The "Minecraft people" said yes, according to O'Brien. And then they said no.

"Now we'll never know what we would have looked like in a Minecraft universe," Conan laments in the clip above.

But it turns out that's not quite the case, as Conan and some of his crew get a short cubist makeover, complete with a guest star, blocky audience members and a pirate ship. It's no full episode, sure, but it does offer a bittersweet taste of what could have been.

Conan has spoofed Minecraft before, notably after Microsoft purchased its creator, Mojang, for $2.5 billion. His Clueless Gamer segments, meanwhile, have explored everything from Outlast and Grand Theft Auto 5 to Tomb Raider and Hitman: Absolution.
