Sega fighting game Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is actually coming to America

Here's something you probably weren't expecting from Sega: The publisher is bringing Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, the crossover 2D fighting game featuring characters from Dengeki Bunko's manga, light novels and anime series, to North America and Europe.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is developed by Ecole Software and French Bread, who may be best known for their Melty Blood fighting games. Their new fighter features playable and assist characters from a bunch of Dengeki Bunko series, like Sword Art Online, Durarara!!, Oreimo and Accel World. But they fight on Sega-themed stages based on games like Valkyria Chronicles, Phantasy Star Online 2, Sonic the Hedgehog and Border Break.

There are a couple of guest characters taken from the Sega side — Virtua Fighter's Akira and Pai, Valkyria Chronicles' Selvaria Bles and Alicia Melchiott — but for the most part, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is heavily steeped in light novel and anime fan service. The game's roster consists of 14 playable characters and support from more than 20 assist characters.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax will be available exclusive to PS3 and PS Vita in summer 2015, both digitally and at retail. Check out the game in action in the trailer below.
