Take a good long look at Eorlund Gray-Mane, here with the legendary Wuuthrad. This isn't embellished, retouched, ‘shopped or anything, it's an in-game shot from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, which launched more than three years ago.
The portrait is part of "Faces of Skyrim," a two-gallery series on Flickr highlighted by Game Informer. These shots are taken from Skyrim's PC version, which benefits from numerous mods that deeply enhance the game's visuals, which already are rather crisp.
Andy Cull is one of the curators of Faces of Skyrim, which features mainly human and elven subjects. The detail in some of these is double-take worthy. See for yourself.
The full galleries are here and here, and a third gallery of jaw-dropping landscapes may be seen here.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim remains a compelling play even three years later. Its engine is being used to re-render The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, a giant fan-engineered project.
