Valve cofounder, honcho and public face Gabe Newell has been rendered as the shopkeeper in Dota 2, and the modder who made him is looking for votes to have him included in the game's New Bloom Festival event.
PCGamesN spotted the mod, highlighted in the above video (Warning: It contains the crescendo of Frank Sinatra's "My Way," so don't play it at work unless you want people to stare at you.) It's the work of down_limit, who says he created the shopkeeper skin as a tribute to the Dota 2 development team for the contribution Dota 2 made to the proliferation of eSports in 2014.
The shopkeeper model is on the Steam Workshop, where down_limit is asking for votes. "Many have told me that the developers won't notice this work and I understand that the chances of success are negligible," he writes. "However, with the support of the community, do not rule out the possibility that the developers will notice my custom shopkeeper and add it for the New Bloom event time."
The New Bloom Festival is an event in Dota 2 that typically launches around the end of January, bringing with it new characters, perks and abilities. In December, Valve put out a call for community submissions, which can be made up until Jan. 19.
