Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is coming, prepare your nightlights

The nightmare-inducing, bizarre horror series Five Nights at Freddy's is due to get a third installment, according to an automated email response from developer Scott Cawthon.

Cawthon's message, which is delivered to anyone who reaches out, confirms that the game is in production. No other details about the game are provided, and Cawthon declines to answer questions about it.

"Please do not email me asking any questions about it," the message reads. "NO questions about FNaF3 will be read or answered!"

The developer's website currently includes the following teaser image.

Cawthon's email also warns fans to beware that anyone posing as the developer on Twitch or Twitter is an imposter and to seek only official sources for updates on the game.

"Please be aware that there have been people posing as me on Twitter, Twitch, and other sites using fake accounts," the message reads. "I do not have a twitter account or a twitch account. Please make sure to believe only reliable sources such as my official website scottgames.com, or the official Steam pages for Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2."

Five Nights at Freddy's was released in August 2014, while its sequel launched only a few months later in November. For more on the series, watch our Overview below or check out our examination of what makes it a viral success.
