Assassin's Creed Unity's free Dead Kings DLC launches Jan. 13, watch a cinematic trailer

Assassin's Creed Unity publisher Ubisoft will launch the game's Dead Kings campaign next Tuesday, Jan. 13, the company announced today alongside the release of a cinematic trailer.

As Ubisoft announced in November, it is giving Dead Kings to Assassin's Creed Unity owners for free in an effort to make up for launching Unity in a broken state. Dead Kings was originally part of the game's $29.99 season pass, but after the disastrous launch, Ubisoft stopped selling the season pass. Players who had already paid for it will receive a free Ubisoft game, their choice from a list of six, in addition to Dead Kings.

Assassin's Creed Unity's Dead Kings DLC is a new chunk of story set after the main game. In this add-on, protagonist Arno Dorian visits the town of Saint Denis, which is home to crypts of, well, dead French kings. Dead Kings introduces a new weapon, the guillotine gun, and features new activities and co-op missions. Players will be able to carry over gear from Dead Kings back into Unity.
